About
Hey, I'm Sophie! I'm a student currently studying Computer Science at university.
I've been a hobbyist programmer since 2019. I have a deep interest in programming, programming languages, and programming language design! Feel free to reach out to me if you ever want to discuss anything programming related.
I'm currently programming predominantly in Rust, Nix, and Java, but I am also working on learning Gleam and Zig! After I finish learning Gleam, I want to learn Elixir, Haskell, Erlang, and OCaml.
Some day I want to design and create my own programming language! I'm currently unsure exactly how this would look, but currently I think a small (in terms of syntax) functional language would be a good idea (thanks Zig).
My dream career would be working as a programming researcher! I think the field in general is quite interesting, and there is much we can discover around programming and programming languages! Without research, we'd still all be using COBOL (p.s., please do not use COBOL in 2024).
When I'm not programming, I enjoy playing video games! My tastes aren't too specific - I like multiple genres! I also enjoy talking about trains (specifically, freight trains) local to where I live (I am not opposed to receiving train pictures, both real and model).
